JOHN TRAVOLTA ENDORSES NEW STYLE RENTING ON 55 MILES OF WATERFRONT
London Docklands is poised to become the premium place to live and work, thanks to its unique water-filled world, arty lifestyle and superior transport links to the rest of London and Europe.

John Travolta is the latest of a string of Hollywood stars to stay in London Docklands. He chose the Four Seasons Hotel located on Canary Riverside with its private infinity pool, tennis court, upmarket health spa and high security and service levels.

Cher's longtime pad (pictured above) is just upstream of that of movie director, the late Sir David Lean, who converted derelict riverside tea warehouses into a sumptuous pad where Hollywood meets Eastriver style. You can rent in London Docklands for £200 to £6,000 a week - and then, if you like the lifestyle, you buy a place from £200,000 to £2.5M.

Nearly half of 16,000 new homes built along 55 miles of waterfront north and south of the River Thames and around vast, open Docks stretching from Tower Bridge to the Thames barrier are available for renting.

New-build homes and lofts created from warehouses, factories and shipyards offer good security, modern living and are part of the unmatched lifestyle opportunities of this, the fastest growing area in Europe.

The main live/work districts are described in our Homes Briefing (above) but now Greenwich (SE10) with its world-renown time and maritime history, street markets and new links via the Docklands Light Railway has become a neighbour district of Docklands and a leisure and cultural focus for Docks residents.

Royal Docklands (E16) also served by the DLR, is taking off with hundreds of new homes being snapped up and one in three being offered on the rental market. London's newest park, Barrier Park, is the focus for development and Barrier Point is already a cosmopolitan focus for riverside living. Britain's first urban village, just completing on the south shoreline of the vast Royal Victoria Dock, is home to over 200 renters who cool out on the Sir Henry Johnson, a vintage floating bar.
